  3. this is Incognito 1.2ß2, an update to Incognito 1.1.4.
  4.  
  5. There are some things about which you should know before using this product:

(1) This is the last version of incognito that I will do in response to Quark XPress™®©. It’s extremely difficult to bypass the copy protection of a product that one doesn’t have, esp. one that is actively attempting to thwart you. Plus, I’m running out of free time, and would like to work on other things ;)

  9. (2) If you’re using Incognito 1.1.4 and do not run Quark XPress 3.3™®©, do not change to Incognito 1.2ß2. Even though it will work, 1.2ß2 is mainly for Quark 33 users…plus, if it works, there’s no reason to upgrade.

  11. (3) The async buttons in the control panel don’t do anything. They caused too many problems, and were internally disabled.

(4) The gestalt selector that shows up in the control panel will be either 'MOCK' or 'HEID', depending on which version of Incognito you were using before. Incognito gets this value from its preferences file: the selector is the creator of the file. Note that if QXP in the future goes after the prefs file, you can change the name of the prefs file Incog uses by changing STR# 0.

  15. (5) System 6 testing is still open. The init should work under system 6, though it’s doubtful that the control panel will.

  17. (6) Incognito 1.2ß2 still doesn’t work with the Scitex XTensions (sorry).

  19. As Incognito is basically being abandoned, the source to 1.2ß2 will be made available on the normal sites (umich, sumex, CIS, AOL). While Incognito is not being placed into the public domain, you do have permission to use any and all of the code for whatever purposes. Incognito is free, and is freely distributable via any medium. You must, however, keep the 1.2ß2 distribution intact.
